Theory 19.30-21.00 and Practical 09.00 – 12.00.
Age – People under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by an adult
The theory part of the course will last for 10 weeks starting on Thursday 18th January 2024 (7pm for a prompt start at 7.30pm-9pm) and will continue on every Thursday evening until 20th March. There will also be a class on the following Thursday evening, 27th March, which will be ‘Preparing for the Practical Course’ and suit fitting. This will all take place at the EBKA teaching apiary and classroom in Ewell.
During the Theory Course you will learn about the biology of the honeybee, how the colony functions and how to manage various aspects of their care such as swarm control and diagnosing and treating pests and diseases. We will also provide you with up-to-date set up costs and where to source/site your colony of bees.
The practical part of the course will follow on to start on Sunday 7th April 2024 (9am for a prompt start at 9.30am until around 12 noon) and continue on every Sunday until 29th June.
