Course Cost – £250
Location – The Apiary, Upper Mill, Kingston Road, Ewell, Surrey, KT17 2AF
Dates/ Times – Thursdays 16th Jan to 27th March and Sundays April 6th to 29th June.
Theory 19.30-21.00 and Practical 09.00 – 12.00.
10 weeks – this will include 8 Sundays for the practical.
Age – People under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by a paying adult.
The theory part of the course will last for 10 weeks starting on Thursday 16th January 2025 (7pm for a prompt start at 7.30pm-9pm) and will continue on every Thursday evening until 27th March. There will also be a class on the following Thursday evening, 27th March, which will be ‘Preparing for the Practical Course’ and suit fitting. This will all take place at the EBKA teaching apiary and classroom in Ewell.
During the Theory Course you will learn about the biology of the honeybee, how the colony functions and how to manage various aspects of their care such as swarm control and diagnosing and treating pests and diseases. We will also provide you with up-to-date set up costs and where to source/site your colony of bees.
The practical part of the course will follow on to start on Sunday 6th April 2025 (9am for a prompt start at 9.30am until around 12 noon) and continue on every Sunday until 29th June. Two Sundays will not happen – we will advise you of these in due course.
